Ram Ganeshan is the D. Hillsdon Ryan Professor of Logistics & Supply Chain Management at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Ram’s research and consulting interests are in the areas of big data, supply chain management, and logistics strategy. He has edited three books and has published over 50 articles in academic and trade journals. Perhaps his best-known work is as co-editor of the seminal book in supply chain modeling: Quantitative Models for Supply Chain Management, which is one of the most highly cited research compendiums on supply chain management. He also recently served as Editor of two Special Issues of the Production and Operations Management journal on Big Data. In 2001, the Production and Operations Management Society awarded him the prestigious Wickham Skinner Award for his groundbreaking research on how supply chains can be efficiently managed.

In addition to his academic appointment, Ram is also active in several corporate and professional advisory boards, helping these organizations embrace the latest developments in big data and supply chain management.

At the College of William & Mary, Ram teaches courses in Supply Chain Management and Digital Strategies to students at all levels — undergraduates to working professionals. In 2006, he was awarded the Alumni Fellowship Award, reserved only for the finest teachers at the university.

Ram is active in executive education, developing and delivering programs in supply chain and technology management to business leaders from both large and small firms representing a wide variety of industries.

Ram received a doctorate in Operations and Logistics Management from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State; a master’s degree in Operations Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and an undergraduate degree in Industrial Management from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science in Pilani, India. Prior to his appointment at the College of William & Mary, Ram was part of the faculty at the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner Business School, where he taught logistics and supply chain. He has also held fellowships and visiting positions at Nijenrode University in Holland and the Indian School of Business in India.
